ANM stands for Auxiliary Nurse Midwife. It is a diploma course in the field of nursing and healthcare that is designed to prepare students to work as healthcare professionals in various healthcare settings.
The ANM course is typically a two-year program, although the duration may vary depending on the institution offering the course. The course curriculum includes both theoretical and practical training in areas such as anatomy, physiology, microbiology, community health nursing, maternal and child health, nutrition, and first aid.
Upon completion of the ANM course, graduates can work as community health workers, health educators, and nursing assistants. They can also pursue higher education in nursing and healthcare, such as a Bachelor’s in Nursing or a Master’s in Public Health.
ANM courses are offered by various nursing colleges and institutions across India. To be eligible for admission, candidates must have passed 10+2 with science subjects or equivalent from a recognized board. Additionally, some colleges may require candidates to pass an entrance exam and meet other eligibility criteria, such as age limit and physical fitness.
