To become a veterinary doctor through NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) in India, follow these steps:
Qualify 10+2 (or equivalent) with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry as main subjects from a recognized board.
Prepare for NEET (UG) exam. NEET is a national-level medical entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate medical courses, including Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & AH). The exam tests the candidate’s knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Apply for NEET-UG exam. The application process usually starts in December, and the exam is usually held in May.
After qualifying NEET-UG exam, apply for admission to a college that offers a Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & AH) degree. Admission is done based on the NEET score and merit list.
Complete the four and a half year B.V.Sc & AH course, which includes both theoretical and practical training in animal science and veterinary medicine.
After completing the course, register with the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) or State Veterinary Council to practice as a veterinary doctor in India.
